Throughout my career, I’ve worked on many fantasy projects, but my musical roots actually lie in techno and progressive rock—and I happen to be a huge sci-fi fan myself. Of course, liking a genre and being good at it are two different things, but when Mr. Kamiya from Vanillaware first shared the concept for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, I was incredibly fired up. It marked the beginning of a long journey of trial and error as we figured out how to support such a complex, grand plot through sound.

Our goals were twofold. From a musical perspective, we prioritized building a foundation of realistic film scores while focusing heavily on the structural composition of techno. This required balancing conflicting elements – such as maintaining a unified feel while expanding the music's layers – and setting our priorities accordingly.
