Selfloss is an atmospheric indie game set in a grim aquatic world heavily inspired by folklore. Its music weaves dark ambiances which match the game’s somber yet mystical tone perfectly. This is a very special, almost talismanic release for us. We are honored to present the stunning underwater photo by Rachel Moore on the front cover. The inside spread features a gorgeous panorama painted by Rita Mirgo, showing there is always hope even in the darkest of tides. To complement the mystical aspect of Selfloss, we also printed a deck of major arcana based on the game’s collectible cards. Furthermore, all of Gamemusic Records profits from this release are donated to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation charity. This vinyl album includes selected pieces from the original soundtrack, as well as unreleased bonus tracks.
Arigto, the composer duo behind the Selfloss OST: “We were deeply fascinated by the underwater world and marine life while composing this soundtrack. Throughout the album, you’ll discover various animal sounds, some subtly manipulated or recreated, others used more recognizably. We were particularly captivated by whale songs and intrigued by how different whale populations develop unique compositions based on their geographic origins. We attempted to build parts of our score around these natural melodies, and we wanted the vinyl artwork to reflect this fascination – the whale’s eye drawing you into their world. We’re thrilled with how it turned out and remain grateful for the free and dynamic collaboration with Alex throughout this journey.”
Alex Goodwin, the creator of Selfloss: “The soundtrack of Selfloss is rooted in the game’s world of grief, healing, and quiet hope. Inspired by fairy tales, cold seas, and slow, ritual-like journeys, the music is calm and intimate in tone. Our collaboration with Arigto was driven by a shared wish to create something emotionally sincere. This soundtrack is meant to accompany moments of reflection, inner calm, and the stress we all face in life.”
